2015 ALA Midwinter to Inspire and Entertain Its Attendees with ‘Ignite’ Sessions

ALA book exhibit in Chicago organizes inspirational and entertaining ‘Ignite’ sessions for its attendees to help them have a wide array of ideas to improve their skills and programs. Visit ALA book exhibit 2015 in Chicago.

 
Chicago IL, 15th December, 2014: American Library Association (ALA)

Midwinter, the largest and most encompassing group representing and campaigning for the national library, will be offering inspirational and entertaining five-minute ‘Ignite’ sessions to its the attendees of ALA Midwinter Meeting this year at Chicago from 31st January to 2nd February, 2015 from noon to 12.30 pm.

These ‘Ignite’ sessions will cover topics, such as diversity in collection development; effective Web writing; how geek culture can help you diversify your collection; using game theory in making digital learning objects; evidence-based librarianship; a crash course on Creative Commons; connecting alumni to the library; creating enhanced materials for exploring a famous Chicago cemetery; and many more useful topics, at popular ALA book fair in Chicago.

Each Ignite session will last for five minutes and will be accompanied by 20 slides that advance automatically every 15 seconds. Total, there will be six Ignite sessions each day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from noon to 12.30 pm. Patrick Sweeney, administrative librarian at Sunnyvale Library, states that these sessions will be offering unique opportunity to have a wide array of ideas for new programs and services in entertaining and fast-paced setting.

All proposals underwent a public voting process that counted for 30 percent of selection process. Staff votes accounted for another 30 percent and an advisory group of ALA members accounted for remaining 40 percent.
