Top Female CFOs in America

More and more women are rising to the CFO spot at America’s largest companies. Here is a list of top female CFOs that are currently ruling the corporate finance world.

 
1. Robin L. Washington- Robin L. Washington has been the CFO of Gilead Sciences Inc. since May, 2008. Recently, she was recognized as one of the 30 Outstanding Women in Finance by Treasury & Risk in 2012 and received the Distinguished Alumni Award at Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management in 2011. She was also named under Black Enterprise's 75 Most Powerful Women in Business.

2. Kimberly Ross- Kimberly A. Ross has been the CFO and Senior Vice President of Baker Hughes Incorporated since October, 2014. She has held various other finance and management positions over the years. Being a Certified Public Accountant, she began her career in 1992.

3. Laura Bishop- Laura Bishop has been the CFO at United Services Automobile Association since May 2014 and serves as its Executive Vice President. Along with her current duties, she also serves as an Executive Vice President.

4. Christine Komola- Christine Komola has been the CFO at Staples, Inc. since 2014. With an experience of more than 25 years in financial operations and management, she has led many finance as well as marketing operations for Staples.

5. Patricia Yarrington- Pat Yarrington joined Chevron Corp in 1980 after completing her MBA and later worked three decades at Chevron and reached the CFO spot in 2009. "Take the long view," she says. "Don't get caught up worrying about climbing the career ladder as fast as you can."

6. Maureen O’Connell- Maureen O’Connell has been the CFO, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Scholastic Corporation. She leads all administrative functions, including Finance, IT, Human Resources, Strategic Planning and Business Development.

7. Cathie Lesjak- Cathie Lesjak has been the CFO at Hewlett-Packard since 2007. She also served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Hewlett-Packard Company since June 2003. She has been ranked 32nd among the world's 100 most powerful women, by Forbes magazine.

8. Kathryn Mikells- Kathryn Mikells has been the CFO at Diageo since 2015. She began her career as a financial analyst in 1994 after completing her MBA and moved up the success stairs from being manager of operating budgets to CFO of United's Mileage Plus unit.

9. Marianne Lake- Marianne Lake has been the CFO at JPMorgan Chase & Co. since 2013. She has also been named the second most powerful woman in banking by American Banker magazine.

10. Cheryl Miller- Cheryl Miller has been the CFO at AutoNation Inc. since 2009. She is a qualified financial expert with over 20 years of financial leadership and operating experience. She is a recipient of numerous awards and one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Automotive Industry by Automotive News.

11. Amy Hood- Amy Hood has been the CFO and Executive Vice President at Microsoft Corp. since 2002. She leads Microsoft’s worldwide finance organization which includes tax planning, accounting and reporting, audits, and investor relation management.

12. Carol Tomé- Carol Tomé has been the CFO at The Home Depot Inc. since 2007. Along with her CFO roles, she also handles Home Depot’s real estate and strategic business development units.

13. Kelly Kramer- Kelly Kramer has been the CFO and Executive Vice President at Cisco Systems since 2015 managing the financial strategy and operations. She is also a member of the board of the Silicon Valley Chapter of City Year.

14. Virginia Wilson- Virginia Wilson aka Gina, has been the CFO and Executive Vice President at TIAA-CREF since 2010. With an extensive experience in the field of financial services, Gina oversees financial management and planning, tax, and financial reporting for the firm.

15. Sharon McCollam- Sharon McCollam has been the CFO and Chief Administrative Officer at Best Buy Co. since 2012. Prior to joining Best Buy Co. she spent 12 years of her career with Williams-Sonoma.

16. Ruth Porat- Ruth Porat has been the CFO at Google and Alphabet since 2015. After a fruitful career at Morgan Stanley, Porat is often known as “the most powerful woman on Wall Street”. She believes in a work-life “mix” instead of “balance”.

17. Kathy Waller- Kathy Waller has been the CFO and Executive Vice President at The Coca Cola Co. since 2014. She is responsible for leading the company’s Global Finance Organization and representing the company to investors, lenders and rating agencies.

18. Beth Bombara- Beth Bombara has been the CFO and Executive Vice President at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. since 2014. She manages the company’s reporting segment, treasury, accounting and investor relations.

19. Carol Roberts- Carol Roberts has been the CFO at International Paper Co. since 2011. She began her career with International Paper in 1981 to Vice President of Industrial Packaging in October 2000 to currently, CFO. Roberts also serves on the Board of Directors of Alcoa and on the Yale University Presidents Advisory Council.

20. Karen Hoguet- Karen Hoguet has been the CFO at Macy’s Inc. since 1997. All the finance and accounting functions are reported to her. Along with the company's financial functions she is responsible for Area Research as well.

In the past decade, there has been a slow yet constant increase in the number of women who are acquiring top director level jobs. Among all the other sectors, women in finance have shown a tremendous growth. A major reason that hold some women back is motherhood and the need to balance the work and family life. However, this obstacle is seen wearing out. With this change of trend, we can see many women at CFO level and who are leading top global companies, efficiently.
