Windows are important not only to have a good look outside but also give that uplifted look to one’s flat. But if one lives in a place of high noise production or bitter cold, then these windows should have something extra to keep all the noise and cold out. In most of the properties the windows are installed and designed keeping the mind the entire aesthetics of the building, therefore one cannot simply go and change the windows to keep the temperature controlled or to avoid excessive noise from outside.

For this purpose, one needs to get secondary glazing on their windows which will keep the house interiors safe from excessive cold, condensation, and noise. There are several types of glazing one can find for different purposes for their windows.

Some of the common types of glazing are:

Secondary glazing film

This is a thin transparent film which can be stuck on the window and then is tightened by heat treatment. Overall it gives a double glazing effect on the windows and also this type of glazing is really cheap and convenient. It gives only limited noise and cold protection though and also it is not too aesthetically pleasing.

Magnetic glazing

In this type of glazing the secondary pane is attached to the primary window pane using magnetic seals. This is very convenient as one can stick the seals on the primary pane and can attach the secondary pane on the seals when required. One can easily find them in many sizes and also they are cost effective. But they can be weak and flimsy especially during strong wind and the chances of them falling off the window pane are high.

Wooden secondary glazing

As the name suggests these glazing panels have a wooden frame and the best thing about these frames are that they come in a variety of shape and size. One can also customize them accordingly. The biggest advantage is that these secondary panes are perfect for old windows and they do not ruin the look at all. it can be a bit higher on the price tag and also it requires a strong frame to keep the glass pane in place.

Aluminum secondary glazing

In this type of secondary glazing the frames are not made of wood or any other plastic material, instead, they are made of good quality aluminum. This is one of the most highly valuable kinds of glazing as it is durable, long lasting, and efficient as it can effectively give noise and thermal insulation. Also, it does not ruin the look and neither does it cost too much.
