Whether you are using Diovan or any other medicine, it is very important that you take the right dose because taking a right dose according to the doctor’s instructions will increase your chances of treating the disorder quickly. On the other hand, overdose or less dose of any medicine will expose you to certain side effects and hamper your treatment badly.

When it comes to diovan dosage, the dosage usually depends upon many factors such as age of the patient, medical condition of the patient and the disease he or she is taking Diovan. Of course, an adult dose will be different as compared to kids but you have to ensure that you only take doctor’s specified dose. Never change the dose, start taking the dose suddenly, or stoop taking the dose suddenly without consulting with your doctor.

Diovan Dosage

If you are a patient of high blood pressure or hypertension then you should take 80 mg to 150 mg dose of Diovan once every day. If your hypertension is severe than you might need more dose of it but make sure that your doctor prescribe it to you. They are allowed to take 300 mg dose per day.

If you are looking quick fix for your hypertension then you should look elsewhere because it will take its time to show positive improvements in hypertension patient condition. This period can be anywhere between 3-5 weeks. Therefore, the key to success is to be patient and consistent. If you have severe liver and renal problem, then ask your doctor to adjust the dose because a dose for normal patient will not work for you but have an opposite effect on your health.

For children, the dose starts from 1-3 mg once in a day. If the recommended strength tablet is not available or the child cannot swallow the tablet, it is better that you give the dose of this medicine with suspension. For heart failure patients, Diovan can reduce the risk and prevent heart failure if they take 80 mg dose per day. Patient with higher risk of heart failure can take Diovan dose of 160 mg per day but should not exceed it.

In case of a Myocardial infarction, doctor recommends the use of Diovan after 12 hours. Myocardial infarction patients should take 20 mg dose twice daily and should monitor their condition after a week. If there is no improvement in their medical condition, they should consult with their doctor. Doctor will increase the dose to 40 mg two times a day. Doses below 80 mg are only available in tablet form so, if you need to take higher doses of this drug then you will have to use other methods to take the dose.

If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember about it. If you remember it when the next dose is due, skip the previous dose and take the upcoming dose. One of the biggest mistakes many patients make is that they take an overdose of Diovan to make up for the missed doses, which is not the right way to go. Due to this, they will have to face many side effects.
