OLENA NOSALII — “Calm”: A Sensual Song About Fantastic Sex with an Ex

In her new single “Calm,” singer-songwriter OLENA NOSALII opens the door to one of the most intimate yet unspoken topics in Ukrainian music — sex with an ex that still ignites the body but has already burned out the soul.

The Ukrainian scene is used to either idealizing love or vulgarizing physical intimacy. But “Calm” is something new: it’s a song about that fine line where pleasure no longer saves but only delays the inevitable — the breakup. It’s about the moment when, after that last time, there is no regret. On the contrary, a quiet harmony, a calm, settles inside.

“This song is about my last time having sex with a man from my past. It was passionate, bittersweet. We both knew it was the end. But it was something we both needed to say ‘goodbye’ without words,” shares OLENA NOSALII.

OLENA NOSALII is one of the few artists who speaks boldly yet delicately about toxic relationships where people are held together only by sex. “Calm” is not just an erotic story. It’s a message: physical intimacy alone is not a reason to stay.

“I wanted to create a song that would allow people to look at their relationships from the outside. If sex is the only thing holding you together, maybe it’s time to let go — even if it was the best sex of your life,” says the singer.

The dream-pop music with hints of jazz immerses the listener in a state of reflection, calm, and inner honesty. There is no shame in it. There is freedom.
