Dr Alfried Laengle, a distinguished psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, long-term collaborator of Viktor Frankl and the founder of Existential Analysis, will shortly be in England.

Well-known Austrian psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, and existential analyst, Dr Alfried Laengle is all set to arrive in England with the intention of sharing the knowledge of the Viennese School of Existential Analysis. Ex-President of the International Society for Existential Analysis and Logotherapy (GLE International), an author of several books and a large number of scientific articles related to the theory and practice of Existential Analysis, Dr Laengle will attend three extensive psychology-related meaningful events during his stay.

The first event in England featuring Dr Alfried Laengle, will be an Open Day & Workshop to be held at Birkbeck, University of London, 18:00 - 21:00 hrs, 18 September. At this event, Dr Laengle will present and discuss the ideas of the Viennese School of Existential Analysis and Logotherapy, a specific approach to a fulfilling life with the aim of helping people come to live with their inner consent. This event is tailor-made for professionals interested in studying the practical implementation of Existential Analysis, psychology students, psychologists, physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, coaches, and other related fields.

On September 19, Dr Laengle, together with Emmy van Deurzen, will be present at the book launch and signing of “The Wiley World Handbook of Existential Therapy”. Prof Emmy van Deurzen is a philosopher, counseling psychologist and existential psychotherapist, the principal of the New School of Psychotherapy and Counseling at the Existential Academy in London. The primary attraction of this event will be a conversation with Emmy van Deurzen and Dr Laengle about modern approaches in existential therapy and how it can help individuals find personal meaning in the current political crisis. They will also be giving their vision and psychological understanding of the current political crisis and the existential meaning of Brexit.
“The effects of a political crisis like Brexit can negatively impact people’s psychological well-being causing stress, anxiety and depression, making them question their values and the complexity of life.” said Dr. Alfried Laengle, founder of Existential Analysis and the Existential Academy.

“Brexit is essentially a type of freedom and as Existential Analysis is a form of psychotherapy uniquely centred around freedom, it can help the individual to understand and to come to terms with the current political situation,” added Dr. Laengle.

Dr Alfried Laengle’s visit to England will also mark the introduction of The Austrian Training Programme for Psychotherapists in the UK. As the creator of the programme, Dr Laengle will present its introductory days on September 20 and 21. This 18 module course will provide unique skills in existential analysis and logotherapy, and open up new future paths for the trainees. It has been designed specifically for individuals looking for a career change, interested in deepening their self knowledge or willing to master the tools of Existential Analysis as a therapeutic method.
The programme will be offered in the UK at Birkbeck, University of London. The classes will be conducted by Alfried Laengle and other trainers from GLE International including Derrick Klaassen, Käri-Ann Thorn, Beth Daily and others.
