Alberta, Canada (July 13, 2015) - Many parents cannot fathom their children being abused, traumatized, becoming anxious, depressed, or mentally ill. Yet statistics show 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before their 18th birthday, and 95% of them know their perpetrator. This is why; Joan Lee Tu has come up with an innovative concept, known as “The Brave Book Project”.

The Brave Book Project is a nonprofit initiative to raise awareness about preventing childhood traumas and abuses. The founder of this initiative, Joan Lee Tu, is currently a stay-at-home mom who wants to help kids. She was inspired by the stories of survivors of abuse and took an educational course offered by Little Warriors called “Prevent It!”. Little Warriors is a national, charitable organization committed to the awareness, prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse.

Joan Lee Tuis asking everyone to send their original children’s stories and poems which she will self-publish into a book. 100% of the royalties from the sale of the book will go to Little Warriors. Children, parents, or anyone who would like to contribute their talents are welcome to share their literary works and art with the world through this project.
