Making a strong pitch for investment in West Bengal, the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said during the Bengal Business Summit 2022 inauguration Session that her main objective is to create industrialization in Bengal which will lead to Employment generation for her State. She also created some contrast discussion with the previous ruling government regarding industrialization.

In the last quarter of FY22 Kolkata has become a popular destination among job seekers. The City has recorded more than 24 lakh interviews from september to december 2021-by research of many professional and job platforms. Women employment has also increased significantly in the last few months which is nearly 30%. Job roles like back office, telecaller, data entry, HR have shown significant growth in terms of employee intake.

Metro cities have seen positive growth in hiring activities in March 2022 whereas Kolkata is standing at +42% growth followed by Hyderabad (+27%), Mumbai (+25%), Chennai (+23%). However India’s capital delhi has shown negative growth of -15% in March 2022.

In 2008, Infosys Technologies Ltd. invested Rs. 500 crores to offer over 5000 job offers to set up a new campus in Kolkata on 50 acres of land from former Chief Minister of West Bengal Mr. Buddhdeb Bhattacharjee. Kolkata was under the radar of Infosys since 2004 to build a campus at Rajarhat, because of its infrastructure and future scope. Since then the IT hub of Kolkata has changed a lot with facilities, beautification and connectivity. Now Infosys is planning to open their campus by next 2 years after “Bhumi Puja” in 2021.

Ahluwalia Constructs India and the state Government also agreed to push Infosys to complete their work faster, also they have acquired another land in Bengal’s Silicon valley situated close to Kolkata Airport with ultra-modern facilities.
Now, the people of Kolkata are waiting for the construction work completion work of Infosys with belief of huge job offerings.
