Panjim, 16th October 2017: Met Coke consists primarily of carbon. This is prepared in the absence of oxygen by using the process of destructive distillation of Coal. Met coke is the future of the world. It can be used to produce energy that can further be used as fuel. It produces a great amount of heat with relatively lower volumes. The high-calorie value of met coke ends up producing more heat without any smoke. Coke is used by major industries like pig iron producers, steel industry, Ferro- alloys industry, industries producing zinc and lead, cement industry foundry industry and blast furnaces.

India is one of the biggest reserves of coal and forerunners of coke manufacturers. There are many met coke suppliers in India that supply coke to other countries. Different suppliers manufacture different grades of met coke. These grades are based on the size of coke. The four different grades of coke are Foundry coke, Blast Furnace coke, Nut Coke and Coke Breeze, which is +70mm, 20-80mm, 10-25mm and -10mm, respectively. Foundry coke is mainly used in cupola furnaces. It is used for melting pig iron to produce different castings. Blast Furnace coke is mainly used in blast furnaces as a reduction agent. Its purpose is to reduce Iron ore in different grades of steel products. Nut coke is used a reduction agent while Coke Breeze has used in Sinter plants, Cement Industries.
