AME also known as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is the professional who works in the engineering and maintenance service of an airline and ensures the secure and airworthy aircraft for the airline they're working for.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is trained to check an aircraft, diagnose the snags and work it at the initial. They're the professionals who manage the maintenance of the aircraft including its machines, electrical and navigation systems and authenticate the Aeroplan as airworthy before its take off. Their job starts with a complete routine scan of the Aeroplan to make it land safely at its destination for another checkup.

B. Tech Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is an advanced professional Degree program designed and Developed to industry requirements as per the guideline of the Regulatory body of the civil aeronautics Authority. This program provides the chance for students to learn the program through theoretical & practical learning and also in maintenance Organization. Students also can appear for license examinations as individual candidates. Upon clearing all the modules as needed by the Regulatory Body he'll get eligible to be a Qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

The prime responsibilities of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers include carrying out repairs, troubleshooting problems, conducting checkups to keep aircraft in flying condition. No aircraft can take off until it's signed by an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Prior to the take-off of the aircraft, the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers check the aircraft and sign the Certificate assuring safety.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Eligibility Criteria:-

Educational Qualification
Candidates who want to pursue Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Course must have completed 12th with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Age Limits
The candidate's age at the time of admission should be a minimum of 16 years. The upper age limits are 23 years. However, the upper age boundary is relaxed for those who have done B.Sc. Non-Medical after their 12th class.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Required Skills-

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers should have good mathematical and logical expertise.
They require to be good at organizing, working in teams of cross-sectional skills and as similar be able to get on well with people at all levels.
candidates should be capable of working actively and patiently so as to do his work with ultimate perfection as a little mistake can prove unfortunate for hundreds of lives on board.

They should also develop good problem- solving skills, have excellent mathematical perfection and communication expertise.
They should also be suitable to apply the principles of science and technology to create aircraft, factors and support stuff.
An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer must be capable to resolve issues in quick times into making Aeroplan airworthy in time.

For becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer one has to follow the given steps-

Step 1
After completing their 12th class with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects, they pass B.E./B. Tech. in Mechanical. They can register for a Three Years Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Training Program having two streams

The first year of AME training provides fundamental information about the aircraft rules and regulations. In the second year, general engineering and maintenance are taught to the students that contain subjects like aerodynamics or proposition of flight, metallurgy, electronics, handling sophisticated stuff and practical work in machine rooms and on aircraft machines. In the third year, the training is concentrated on specific areas like light aircraft, heavy aircraft, piston engine, jet machines or helicopters.

After three years of study, applicants are rewarded Basic Aircraft Maintenance Training Certificate followed by an examination by the Director General of Civil Aviation. The successful applicants have issued a license to service the aircraft.

Step 2
After getting the DGCA - AME license the candidates are needed to obtain a governmental license or approval on a particular type of aircraft. If it's an Airbus or Boeing one has to obtain an individual license to service that particular type of aircraft.

Step 3
Students of AME course can also appear and qualify as AmAeSI (Associate Membership of Aeronautical Society of India). It's considered as substitutive to B.E or B. Tech. program in Aeronautical Engineering by Government of India and candidates can go for MTech.

Step 4
After getting the essential license the AME can find jobs with companies like Airlines, Maintenance Repair Overhaul(MRO’s), Aircraft Manufacturing Companies, Aircraft Spares Manufacturing Companies, Civil Aviation Department & Defense, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Colleges, Flying Training Schools, Aviation Technical Publication Companies as well as in Indian Air Force and Coast Guards as defense officers.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Fee structure
The fee for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering ranges from 25000 to 50000 per semester, depending on the college which the applicant chooses depending on his/ her rank in Aeronautical-CET Exam. Depending on the Aeronautical-CET exam rank up to 100% scholarship is given.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Salary Package
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer can earn a good salary, even as a trainee with an organization can earn a salary from 50,000 per month to 3 lakh per month depending on the experience of the candidate in the aviation industry.
