Installing the Generators

The distillation range of a diesel fuel does not allow much flexibility in this regard, because of the interdependence with other specification factors.

The demand for autonomous power supplies has fuelled great competition among manufacturers of generators. This has led to advances in the technology and generally lower prices, particularly in the portable generator market.

Adpower diesel generators, suitable for all kinds of applications, have good randomness, long cycle lengths, and higher speed than other generators of similar quality. The chief properties of diesel fuels are volatility, heating value, ignition quality number, viscosity, low-temperature flow, lubricity, storage stability, component compatibility, and sulphur content. The volatility of a diesel fuel has little influence on its engine performance, except as it affects exhaust smoking tendencies. The distillation range of a diesel fuel does not allow much flexibility in this regard, because of the interdependence with other specification factors. Because diesel fuels are classified as non flammable for freight purposes, minimum flash point restrictions are imposed

Generator operators, railroad and shipping companies are concerned about kW output, and fuel economy. They aim to use the fuel with the greatest heating value. The factors that influence heating value are density and mid-boiling point. While installing the generators you should never back feed the electricity into your house by plugging the generator into an outlet or wiring it directly to the panel box. If done incorrectly, you can electrocute utility workers repairing downed power lines. For safety's sake, it is strongly suggested that you hire an electrician to install a power transfer system to redistribute power from the generator to the circuit panel. A power transfer system basically contains a manual transfer switch, a power cord and an optional power inlet box. Your type of installation will help you determine if you need the power inlet box and the length of the cord.

If you’re main electric panel is located in your garage, this is the easiest and least expensive way to install a power transfer system. Your electrician simply connects a manual transfer switch to your main electrical panel. You don't need a power inlet box since you can run a power cord into the garage. Always run your generator outside of the garage to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. You'll need at least a 25-foot power cord to give you ample distance.
