Pune, Maharashtra, April 28 2015: While Addmen developers are deeply engaged in continuous research on OMR software to release timely bug fixes and updates to boost the software’s performance, the accuracy of evaluations also depend largely on the personnel handling the evaluation process and operating the software. To help our users achieve a higher rate of accuracy in evaluations, Addmen developers have pointed out some of the common errors that are overlooked while scanning the OMR sheets.
Addmen OMR software comes equipped with an efficient auto-aligner module that automatically rectifies skewed scans, but it is still recommended that you take extra care to ensure that the sheets you place in the scanner pocket are properly held in place by the brackets. Keep the scanning area wide enough, so the index points are scanned properly and so they’re not too close to the edges.
Scan your sheets in 100/150/200 dpi as images or pictures and never in document mode; but remember that a higher dpi doesn’t necessarily result in better scans. Stick to 100 dpi to keep the file size low. For sheets containing photographs and images, scan at 100/150 dpi in Grayscale or Color mode. For sheets containing Barcodes or lithocodes, 150/200 dpi images yield better results.
Avoid scanning in dithered mode; it is preferable to scan at 50% threshold. Also, refrain from increasing the contract or brightness as it may result in excessively sharp, dotted edges. Save the scanned images in BMP or single-page TIFF formats only. JPEG/DOC/PDF formats are not supported by the OMR software; however, the software’s in-built convertor can be used to convert these files into the preferred formats, i.e. TIFF or BMP.
