Opened in 2004, Koban Japanese Restaurant is the cooperative concept of a sushi chef and a long-time customer. Together the two broke ground in Merrick by taking over the great corner location formerly occupied by a town staple delicatessen. Over the next decade, the collaborative effort became an institution in its own right, cultivating a loyal and appreciative customer base spanning from Riverhead to Rockland County. During that time, Koban engineered a fantastic array of traditional Japanese dishes, creative roll selections, and top flight service, all the while remaining true to its philosophical approach: Providing absolute quality ingredients while ensuring ultimate guest satisfaction. Today, Koban continues its commitment to excellence as it embarks on its second decade of business with inspired direction, new robust menu options, and a strong understanding of the core concept that made it successful from its inception. They've recently launched a new website to help better serve their existing customer base and to expand brand awareness to the consumers throughout Long Island, New York. The site features a gallery of menus highlighting their top-notch dinner offerings and delicious lunch specials and sushi bar items. The new site also brings the ease of online ordering to the local patrons of the restaurant. Koban Japanese Restaurant has chosen to partner with Maxburst Web Design, another Long Island based business, to bring their vision to fulfillment.

Restaurant hours are Monday through Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m
