Today’s article is about Abby Dallas, one of the prominent ReggaeRockstar out there. Reggae is one of the versions that has a rich heritage, one that we could not ignore. She's been in the industry for quite some time and delivering some real punches to the world.
Her songs are power-packed with messages that people would themselves want to say. But they cannot do that, maybe due to the absence of a platform or opportunity. You can go through the songs yourself, and see what we are talking about.
But you may ask, who is Abby Dallas? She’s been into music since a young age (as young as 6). She first got in touch with this art through School and Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) and the events held by it.
Her voice is outstanding, and experts noticed her for that. She hailed a successful ride to the country’s (Jamaica’s) prestigious music college (Edna Manley College of Performing and Visual Arts). She studied Musical Performance (she has her Diploma in it). Due to her music, she got a scholarship for her studies.
Abby is mostly responsible for writing the lyrics of her songs and singing. But she does have a team of equally talented personalities. Her songs are incredibly popular in Jamaica, and people have nothing but the best things to say about her music.
She has already joined numerous famous artists on stage. Some of them include:
● Diana King
● Shaggy
● Tanya Stephens
● Dean Fraser
● Mavado
● Yellowman
● Queen Ifrika
She won multiple awards; some of them are mentioned below:
● Most Outstanding Soloist
● Best Female Pop Singer
● Most Outstanding Junior Vocalist
● Jamaica's 46th Festival Song in 2012
She has toured various locations, both national and international. So, you see her portfolio is diverse and something to brag about.
She tries different music genres, including Hiphop, Reggae, and Dancehall.
She combines tradition with a modern setting, be it through the stories or the style. Her consistent delivery of music made her a fan favorite in Jamaica.
She has released several songs, singles, albums, etc., for us to enjoy. Her latest ones include Poppy Show and Black is the Color of My Skin. She will release new songs (an EP is in the works).
Before knowing the songs, it's best to know the artist. We hope we have shed some light on her.
