The Essar Group is investing Rs 30,000 crore over the next four years to establish a green hydrogen plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This move is part of their broader strategy to decarbonize their oil refinery in the UK, build a green steel plant in Saudi Arabia, and develop LNG and electric ecosystems for heavy trucks.
Prashant Ruia, director of Essar Capital, announced this ambitious plan, marking a significant shift in the conglomerate's focus towards clean energy. The plan involves utilizing 4.5 GW of renewable energy to produce hydrogen through the process of water molecule splitting. Additionally, Essar aims to expand into critical mineral mining for EV batteries and renewable energy technologies, positioning itself for a substantial impact on India's clean energy landscape.
