Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has recently expressed his views on coaches where he had said that it might not be important for a coach to have played a lot of matches to be successful but it is important for a selector to have played a decent number of matches.

While talking on Star Sports show Cricket Connected, Gambhir said, “Probably you can just have a different T20 batting coach, just for that particular format. It is really not true that someone who hasn’t played international cricket or who hasn’t played enough cricket, can’t become a successful coach.”

He also said that according to him, a coach should help the players clearing their mind that helps them perform better in T20 format. These certainly help players to make and achieve goals as well.

He further added, "No one teaches you how to hit a lap shot or a reverse lap shot, no coach can do that. If someone is trying to do that to a player, he is harming him more than actually making him a better player.”

In his international career, Gautam Gambhir had played 58 Tests where he amassed a whopping 4154 runs which came at an average of 41.95. Even in the 147 ODIs he scored 5238 runs. On the other hand, in the shortest format, he appeared in 37 appearances where he managed to score 932 runs as well.

Meanwhile, the entire world has been suffering from the global pandemic novel coronavirus which left the world into a standstill. The 2020 IPL was about to start from March 29 earlier but later it got postponed until April 15 due to the COVID-19 lockdown. However, it has been postponed for the time being and the question has been raised over the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup which is scheduled to play in Australia later this year.
