Rhonda Collins hired to lead team of tax research experts through unprecedent year

APPLETON, Wis. (Jan. 20, 2021) – Rhonda Collins, EA, CPA, MBA, joins the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) research team as its Director of Tax Content and Government Relations. In her role, Collins will lead NATP’s team of expert federal tax researchers through the upcoming, unprecedented tax season likely to cause many taxpayers and tax professionals confusion over changing tax law and application.

Under a transitioning presidential administration and backlogged IRS resulting from the effects of COVID-19, NATP experts are expecting the 2021 tax season to include last-minute changes to tax law and late issued guidance from the IRS surrounding existing regulations.

“We’re gearing up for an exciting tax season, certain to be filled with lots of questions and additional guidance needed,” Collins said. “I’m looking forward to working with our team of tax research experts to provide tax professionals with the answers they need to best serve their U.S. taxpayer clients. Tax law and its interpretation is complicated. Compound that with the COVID-19 fallout and a new president, this tax season will be one to remember.”

Collins has a diverse professional background of over 25 years in the industry, including positions with “The Big 4” accounting firms, a nationally recognized health care system and a Fortune 500 company specializing in online tax and accounting software services.

Originally from Ohio, Collins graduated from Franklin University in Columbus. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration. Collins is a licensed CPA in four states and is also an enrolled agent, which allows her to represent clients before the IRS.

Collins and the other experts at NATP are continuously monitoring industry news to provide its members with timely updates on how tax law change and other updates may affect their businesses and the tax returns of U.S. taxpayers.
