Boston, MA, March 12, 2014 -- MassHack has launched a crowdfunding campaign for “Boston’s largest crowdfunded hackathon”. MassHack’s goal is to raise $50,000 USD to help put on the hackathon and to give a prize the top teams.

The hackathon will take place over a period of 48 hours. Teams will be made up of 1 to 6 developers and entrepreneurs. All teams must complete all coding and development work within those 48 hours. Teams may ahead of time do any graphics and interface design (aka wireframes).

There will also be opportunities for attendees not taking part in the hackathon to learn programing and entrepreneurial skills.

“MassHack is for anyone that wants to create something new and innovative. Then turn that project into a startup,” said James Jones, MassHack founder and Telix Network cofounder. “I believe everyone has at least one good idea and we are trying to helping create the opportunity for them to execute on that idea.”

On Friday teams will start coding away on their projects. By Sunday morning the teams will need to “freeze” their work and start to prepare their pitches for multiple rounds of judging. The panels of judges will be made up of investors, industry experts and technology analysts. Some of the judges include Jeff Pulver, cofounder of Vonage and investor in Twitter and Foursquare. Another Judge will be Eric Lundquist, former EditorinChief at eWeek and is currently a Technology Analyst for Ziff Brothers Investments.

Eric had this to say about MassHack, "I'm excited and honored to be a judge at the upcoming MassHack. The combination of great ideas and great coding promises to make this event one of the most important dates on the 2014 techie calendar."

MassHack will take place May 16th to 18th, 2014 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA. For tickets or to contribute to the crowdfunding campaign please visit their website, http://masshack.com.
