Being a part of the Delta Police Management Team, Varun Naidu started his career in the Patrol Division where he responded to calls for services as well as conducted investigations. Besides, he came up with problem solving initiatives to address the community concerns. He also supervised the constables and provided them with the guidance and leadership on all investigative and operational matters.

Thereafter in 1998, Varun became the part of Emergency Response Team where he conducted high risk operations that fell outside the skills, knowledge and abilities of regular members such as warrant service, barricaded persons and hostage rescue. He was then selected as the team leader of the Emergency Response Team where he supervised all tactical operations and coordinated training.

Being the member of Criminal Investigation Branch in2001, Varun Naidu conducted drug and major case management. He also served the role of primary investigator and file coordinator in files including marijuana grow operations, homicides, and other violent offenses.

Varun supervised seven constables in the areas of drug investigations that included indoor marijuana grow operations and drug trafficking. Being a supervisor, he provided an oversight on all the investigations and developed strategies with his team to reduce the impacts of drugs in the community through education, enforcement and community partnerships. As the part of Sergeant Delta Police Drug Section, he supervised all administrative matters and managed an annual budget of $932,000 that included wages and benefits.

As the watch commander in Delta Police Department, he supervised the patrol shift where he was responsible for a team of seventeen constables and two sergeants conducting patrol and uniform functions. Be it the investigative or administrative matter, he provided the field support and guidance, along with drafting and delivering performance evaluations.

Apart from all this, Varun Naidu has been the inspector in charge of Operational Support Branch where he managed Traffic Section, Vulnerable Sector, Community Policing, Victim Services, Community Relations and School Liaison Units. It was his responsibility to ensure that the Operational Support Branch was adequately resourced and managed.

In September 2017, Varun Naidu served in Inspector Strategic Services Branch where he conducted reviews and coordinated special projects for the Department. He also supervised the Emergency Management Section and the Victim Services Unit.
