SOS Children’s Villages of India receives Donation from Seagate

Employees of Seagate participated in a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme recently at the SOS Children’s Villages of India in Pune.

 
The SOS Children’s Villages of India received a donation of Rs.9,95,000 from Seagate, the global leader in data storage solutions, under its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
At the Pune event, employees of Seagate spent a fun-filled day at the Village, conducting Science experiments with the SOS children. The activities were designed to inform and engage the children and were geared towards enhancing their knowledge of scientific concepts and applications.
Expressing his admiration for the good work carried out, Mr. Milan Mulye, Engineering Director, Seagate: “Seagate is committed to corporate social responsibility and helps address some of the many needs in our communityOur engagement with SOS today will focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to build a stronger foundation for the childrens' future.”

Applauding this Seagate initiative, Secretary General of SOS Children’s Villages of India, Mr Giri said, “Initiatives like these offer great encouragement and support to our efforts towards improving lives of once parentless and vulnerable children. We are grateful for the support from Seagate. The sponsorship will help SOS reach its goals in providing quality education to our children in the Village. We look forward to more such employee engagement opportunities and a long term partnership from Seagate. Our constant endeavor is to provide protection, care, and love, and every single day we strive to give such children a normal childhood. I am confident that that this partnership will go a long way in supporting our mission.”

About SOS Children’s Village, Pune
Established in 1989, there are 16 loving family homes for 267 children in the Village. It provides a serene, caring and positive environment that helps build a solid emotional foundation for children growing up in the Village. It also has youth houses for boys and there are 84 boys in these youth houses. As on today, 123 youngsters have moved out of our Village and got settled. SOS Pune is also strengthening 269 BPL families and reaching out directly or indirectly to over 515 children in 6 localities of Pune.
