A step towards Healthy Living: Keeping in tune with World Yoga day, The Orbis School performed 5000 Surya Namskaars!

The Orbis School understands the importance of Yoga in children’s well being. The school organized Surya Namskar, the Sun Salutation which is a complete body workout. It makes the body flexible, relaxes and tones up the body. This also invigorates the nervous system.
On this occasion, children were explained the 12 different asanas which are performed while doing Surya Namskar. Yoga experts say that doing 12 sets of Surya Namaskar translates into doing 288 powerful yoga poses in a span of 12 to 15 minutes.
Children did Surya Namskar at a slower pace, to gain maximum benefits from these postures. They enjoyed the stretch and realized that due to the fast pace of life, the body lacks exercises. Children came to know that one round of Surya Namaskar burns up to 13.90 calories for an average weighing person.
About 1000 children from the School from Classes 1-10 performed 5 Surya Namaskar together and ended the session with ever beneficial hasyasan, to move towards better and healthy living.
