Life is uncertain and at the times it hits us in appalling ways, it leaves us with an unflinching feat of not taking it for granted. One obviously does not foresee quenching your craving for a glass of sugarcane juice to turn in to a horrific incident! Just another regular day, Satish, our CEO went to have sugarcane juice. Before he could even process any other thought in his mind, he was witness to the terrible sight of the vendor putting his hand in to the churning machine. What followed was absolutely gruesome.
Trying hard to subside the natural panicky reaction, Satish mustered the courage to compose himself and managed to put him in the car and quickly rush to a nearby hospital. After the initial dressing and medication was done, Satish proposed the idea of involving the entire Valueleaf team in contributing to his recovery. With our employee strength, we were able to raise some decent amount of money. Apart from this, on humanitarian grounds, we have taken this up to get him fully recovered. It will take him a couple of months to bounce back to normal.
Valueleaf had the opportunity of meeting the vendor and his wife. May be this is just another act of consideration from another organization. But the tears of gratitude trickling down the cheeks of his wife were worth a million words. Probably it meant that no act of kindness can be undermined by the scope or the amount of money involved. What matters is how it affects the lives of people around us and how the fortunate ones choose to be a part of it.
Mohan Prasad is on his path to recovery and hopefully we can enjoy a glass of chilled sugarcane juice from his stall pretty soon. It is a matter of pride and happiness for us to be associated with such an endeavour and may be sharing it could encourage more such endeavours in future. After all, as the saying goes “Every drop makes an ocean “.
