Unnati Silks has achieved the use of the Handloom Mark for its handloom products. The purchase of original products is on the basis of a certain market reputation, in the absence of any Stamp of Guarantee. Handloom Mark is that Stamp of Guarantee.

30/04/2016, Hyderabad, India - Unnati Silks has received the official sanction for use of Handloom Mark under the Handloom Mark Scheme. It is with pride that Unnati Silks is able to announce Unnati Silks has been registered only after the verification and confirmation as a manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer of genuine handloom products.

Unnati silks has also not tagged with somebody nor sought somebody’s help for the use of the Handloom Mark. Unnati Silks has received it on the basis of its own standing in the textile sector as the supplier of genuine handloom products.

The Managing Director of Unnati Silks Online, Ms. P. Ladha, was all smiles when asked what it meant to her, and said, “What it signifies is that the ceaseless efforts of a three decade old organization that has continued to remain faithful in the supply of genuine traditional handlooms, has been given due recognition by competent authority”.

She also pointed out that Unnati Silks has been associated with master ethnic weavers and the supply of original handloom products since 1980. It will continue to do so with the use of the Handloom Mark for its genuine handloom products.

Outlining the advantages of having the Handloom Mark, she said, “This is renewed faith for our customers that they have always received original goods from us and will continue to do so when they buy from us. This will also spur the efforts of the weavers associated with us to continue the good work of producing exceptional offerings for the market.”

What is Handloom Mark?
The "Handloom Mark" provides a collective identity to the handloom products and it can be used for popularizing the hand woven products, serve as a guarantee for the buyer that the product being purchased is genuinely hand woven, provide a distinctive name in identifying the product or the manufacturer. The Handloom Mark would, therefore, be a hallmark of powerful creative work that defines the product with clarity, distinguishing it from competition and connecting it with customers.

It is provided by The Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Government of India, in its objectives of implementing developmental schemes and programmes to protect the interest and welfare of the weavers.

Who can make use of the Handloom Mark?
Those wishing to make use of the Handloom Mark for their goods can apply for registration to obtain sanction for its use from The Textiles Committee, Govt. of India, the implementation Agency for the Scheme. In order to prevent the misuse of the scheme, the applicants will be registered after onsite verification.

Individual weavers, master weavers, apex and primary handloom weavers' co- operative societies, handloom development corporations, others, handloom retailers and exporters can make use of the Handloom Mark once they are registered. Genuine handloom weavers, Master weavers, societies, retailers, others and exporters will be registered on payment of requisite fee after which an agreement will be signed.
