Seeing how the temperature rises day by day, our need for items that beat the heat is on the rise. Sure many of us would think of wrapping around a wet flannel and staying under the fan or recall the childhood days of cooling off under a sprinkler or maybe just dip in the pool. But as we all know, everything comes with its own set of pros and cons. Let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of portable air conditioners to see if they are worth the investment.

Pros:

Mobility – As opposed to the conventional window air conditioners, portable air conditioners can be moved easily from one place to another like at home, office or even at an RV for a comfortable ambient temperature.

Easy Installation – Wouldn’t it be better if our home appliances could be used right out of the box? It’s extremely easy to set-up a portable air conditioner without needing a professional or any tools. All you need is an exhaust vent for the condensed air to clear out of the room and that’s it.

Low Price with High Efficiency – Most of the portable air conditioner are much more affordable that the traditional window air conditioner and requires less energy since it enables you to focus on areas that need cooling. Now that’s efficiency.

Cons:

Noisier – Since all the components reside in a single unit and it is placed insider the house, portable AC tend to create more noise than the window air conditioners.

Water Management – Unlike traditional window air conditioners, portable air conditioners are unable to eliminate the water in the form of steam. Portable air conditioners need to be places besides a window or should have a pan from where the water can be eliminated manually.
