Greyhound races have been losing popularity and position gradually over the last few years. Still, online participation in these events, especially the inclusion of some extraordinary people, has begun to change that situation.

Though the threat of COVID-19 has subsided to a large degree and people are trying to resume their everyday lives once more, certain things are yet to change. For instance, Greyhound racing events are still being held over zoom calls. Yes, various events allow people to remain present on the racing field, but some maintain the practices developed during the pandemic. Keeping the current trend in mind, it is clear that the practice will be beneficial.

Taking part in a greyhound race over Zoom

Recently, such an event was hosted over Zoom, and the outcome has been interesting, satisfying and enjoyable to the people who took part in it. The event was hosted for the disability sector of Victoria, and there were more than 30 communities that joined the event. Along with becoming successful, the event was a chance for these people to feel happy and excited. Furthermore, the virtual gathering assisted in the convenient participation of the people while eliminating any chances of further spread of the disease.

A nice and exciting chance for people living with disabilities

People living with disabilities or other issues do not usually get the chance to participate in exciting events, especially something as enjoyable as Greyhound racing. Therefore, this virtual session was a nice change for them. Despite remaining at the long-term care facilities, they found the chance to become part of something exciting, intriguing and popular. This brought a sense of belonging to them, which is essential for better living. Hence, the arrangement has been beneficial for multiple people.

The feeling of belonging somewhere is nice

Along with watching the races, they were assigned random participants and got the chance to cheer for a greyhound. This is a simple offer, but for these people, the opportunity was enormous. The disappointment of not being present at one of the Greyhound Racing Fields got easily handled by the chance of supporting and cheering for a participant in the race. The outcome was delightful for the people who witnessed and took part in such an event for the first time.

A special event for some special people

Different care homes, independent living facilities and retirement homes that participated in the event were satisfied and happy. Feedback after the event has revealed that each person who attended the event was happy, as they tasted the excitement of becoming part of the greyhound race. Usually, people staying in such facilities do not get many chances to enjoy such exciting events. Hence, this event was so special to them.
