Produced by Lee Adams and Marc Esannason, VICE's cameras follow car clubs and drivers from Queens and Brooklyn as they work to legitimize New York City's emerging car culture against growing opposition.

Vice unveiled an original documentary series titled STREET GODS: Inside NYC's Underground Car Meets, that premiered globally on Sunday, December 15, 2019, exclusively on Vice and Vice Digital via Youtube.

In the New York underground motorsport circuit, street racing was once the leading path to making a name for yourself. While Nascar ruled the airwaves by attracting a mainstream fanbase across the US, there is a strong amount of the culture that is immersed in and thrives on illegal street racing. "What we wanted to accomplish by making this series was to give a voice to those often held up by the mainstream media as criminals or hooligans. I wanted to provide an understanding that may have not been shared before," says Lee Adams, Creative Producer at Vice.

The 4-part documentary premiered this past weekend racking up more than 300,000 views in less than 24 hours, with the first episode focusing on Mpireboyz who set out to legitimize and promote talented drivers and street bike riders from New York City. Coming off the heels of Ride or Die with Monami Entertainment & MTV, clothing line STUNTX and Stage Motorsport - associate producer Marc Esannason says of the series, "A bold new culture has risen in motorsports - dirt bikes and cars are emerging on the streets and highways nationally as well as internationally." He adds, "Vice gave us the ability and platform to tell the story raw and un-filtered."

"This series wouldn't have been possible had it not been for Marc and his network in New York's motorsports world, not only within the establishment but also in the underground," says Adams. STREET GODS is a story of resilience. These young men find themselves not only developing a skill, but also gaining a family and community of like-minded car enthusiasts. For the first time, VICE's cameras follow car clubs and drivers from Queens and Brooklyn as they work to legitimize New York City's emerging car culture against opposition from the authorities and more mainstream car culture.

The in-depth look at street racing features Joey Tedesco, Shareaf Taha aka Reaf, Manolo Cruz aka Nolo, Malik Loney aka Leeky, and Marc Esannason, along with a number of members from the motorsport community; and will air in four episodes starting on December 15th to follow each Sunday until January 5th 2020. Vice is globally set for exclusive streaming.
