Luxury Fashion Retailer Olivela has an interesting story behind its philanthropic mission. Stacey Boyd, Founder and Ceo of Olivela met Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousefzai while visiting refugee camps in Kenya and Rwanda. The experience there transformed her thought process as she met and got inspired by the young girls who overcame poverty, war, and forced marriages in order to pursue their education. Opportunities and rights that most people take for granted had to be fought for by these young girls, who risked their lives to be able to live on their own terms and further their education. In fact, statistics show that young girls who get married before the age of 15 are 50 per cent more likely to face assault and abuse from their partners and almost 3 times more likely to not have received an education. This was the driving factor behind the creation of Olivela – a luxury retailer focused on giving back with every single transaction.

The idea is simple with a powerful goal.

Consumers are able to shop their favourite fashion and luxury brands. Olivela then donates 20 per cent of every purchase to one of their partner children’s charities at no extra cost to the consumer. Olivela also allows consumers to easily view the direct impact of their purchases, measured in tangible metrics like the number of days of school your purchase will provide (eg. MZ Skin Hydrate & Nourish Age Defence Retinol Day Moisturiser provides 2 days of school). The goal is to break the cycle of poverty by providing education and therefore increasing the chance of economic independence.

The partner charities include the Malala Fund – a non-profit organisation that invests in girls education and encourages them to reach their full potential, CARE – a major humanitarian agency that is focused on fighting poverty, and Too Young to Wed – a non-profit group that aims to protect young girl’s rights and end child marriage. With such strong names, it is no wonder that Olivela is becoming a go-to destination for shopping luxury goods for those who are philanthropists at heart.

British brand MZ Skin has recently announced its partnership with luxury fashion retailer Olivela, where 20 per cent of the proceeds from every purchase supports girls’ education at no extra cost to the consumer. Created by Oculoplastic Surgeon and Facial Aesthetics Doctor, Dr. Maryam Zamani, MZ Skin’s mission has always been to support and empower women. As a doctor-led brand made for women by a woman, MZ Skin recognizes the importance of education and providing equal opportunity for all, so partnering with Olivela seems like an obvious choice. Based on Dr. Zamani’s 3 step anti ageing philosophy of Reveal, Enhance, and Protect, the capsule collection features active ingredients, stem cells, and ovine placenta to ensure a timeless, youthful glow. MZ Skin strongly believes in Clean Science and all their formulations are free from nasties such as Parabens, Sulphates (including SLS), Phthalates, Mineral Oils, silicones, petrolatum and petrochemicals, and GM ingredients. Reputed for being the secret behind several celebrities’ and athlete’ glowing skin, MZ Skin is found in select stores that boast an elite clientele. The partnership with Olivela officially launched in December 2018, and you can shop the entire MZ Skin Collection on Olivela.
