Out in the world right now things are more relaxed than they were a month ago. Perhaps it is just disaster fatigue due to Coronavirus. People have gotten into their habits, good or bad; masks or no masks, heightened precautions or just the usual. What is this word, precaution? It is something you do before harm can be done, to decrease the likelihood that a particular bad thing will happen. It is caution taken in advance. These precautions seem to be resisted in the beginning. It is not something anybody wants, this feeling of being more restricted. But really, there are actions to take to keep yourself and others well. They are not difficult, once incorporated into a routine.
Some of these hygiene safeguards and precautions are things we probably learned in kindergarten or before. Like, wash your hands!
When you come in from play (or work), after using the potty, before eating or cooking, before bed, wash up! You get the idea. Wear a mask. It helps to keep you safe in many ways, not the least is that it keeps the luckiness that gets on your hands from getting into your nose or mouth. It also keeps you from breathing a lot of the yuck that can be in the air, and it truly helps keep you from spewing more yuck into the air. It might not be a Coronavirus that you spew, but if you have any kind of yuck, we really don't need it. So, thank you.
And gloves, now that we are discussing yuck, think of a pump at a gas station. Good. Now, aren't you glad there is something you can put on your hands so you don't have to really touch that stuff...Yes! Gloves! And then you can peel them off and throw them away. What a relief. Hand sanitizing afterward is also a good safeguard. "People who do not bathe or wash their hands regularly, can carry germs. They put you at risk.", L.
