Today was an interesting demonstration of what? It started out to be a day that demonstrated the workings of a constitutional republic. The protest of the side that lost the election was even part of how a system that bases its transfers of power on the will of the people. The People, so to speak, are not and never have been a monolith. So we built a structure. There are three branches of government. Each one has a different function, and yet they are interdependent in specific ways, like an ecosystem. That is for our Federal Government, the one that binds the states together. Then each state has its own republic or democracy. This continues all the way down to city and town level. We, individuals, families, groups like clubs or churches or businesses, are the population of these structures. Individuals comprise the political parties So in our system it all comes down to each person. Each person gets one vote. Those, counted and apportioned to each candidate, become the Will of the People. This gets to be tricky when our voting population is so evenly divided in some of their essential beliefs about the purposes of our United States of America. The most basic seems to be the definition of what FREEDOM actually is. The entire thing is a structure of ideas. Passions must find a way to work within the system.

We move from one country to the world, and look to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration lays out 30 basic Human Rights. Right number 21 addresses the concept of individual participation in government. It is fairly long, and broken down into three parts, and here it is: "1.Eveeryone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives." and "2. Everyone has the right to equal access to public service in his country." and lastly, "3. The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government, this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures." The philosopher and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard, wrote, "Human rights must be made a reality, not an idealistic dream."
