Make a difference by how you conduct your life. Your example is important.

I just heard an interview of Olympic swimmer Dara Torres. She has just collaborated on a film about her remarkable life story. She competed in 5 different Olympics, and won a total of 12 medals, 4 of them Gold. She was 41 when she swam in Beijing in the 2008 Summer Games, where she won 3 Silvers. In listening to this interview, it was obvious that the interviewer was trying to raise more drama than the Swimmer was going to tolerate. The interviewer, who was also female, tried to make the focus of the interview an eating disorder that Dara contended with in her younger competitive days. Swimmers needed to "make weight" for the training and competitive tactics of a Coach. This is not necessary by the rules in swimming, and the interviewer went on about the "pressure". Dara refused to take the victim stance. She presented herself as a a person responsible for her own actions. This is exemplary. This is a Champion who creates her life by setting a very good example in how to become excellent, and then maintain that level of performance. In The Way To Happiness, precept 6 is "Set a good example." and it states, "There are many people one influences. The influence can be good or it can be bad.", L. Ron Hubbard. Thank you Dara Torres for being a good influence in your sport and in your life. www.thewaytohappiness.org
