The definition of essential business now includes one's handyman.

While time with loved ones, meetings on digital media, and wearing sweats or pajamas have become the norm for many of us, there are a breed of people out there making sure things keep working and polishing our offices and stores up for reopening. This may not seem essential, unless your dripping shower is now a waterfall, or you have started getting sparks when you use the blender and toaster. it could be that your ceiling became damp during that last thunderstorm and is starting to smell a little musty. All of us want these things fixed right now! Not to mention when the rain is coming through the living room ceiling.

The cadre of people who have the various and wide ranging skill set to take care of these things are valuable to our well being. As is the mechanic who nurses our car along, the teacher who rescues our home schooling debacle, and so many others. Many of us are feeling pinched financially right now. So of course we want, and sometimes really need, to spend as little as possible on these minor disasters. But those people, out in the environment and helping, still deserve fair compensation. One could make the argument right now that they deserve Hazard Pay! They put themselves at risk every time they go out to help.

An obligation can be defined as the state fact or condition of being indebted for a special service or favor that one receives. It can be a contract or it can be a duty or promise, or a social or moral requirement. In the long run, the person who does not meet their obligations does not come out the winner. It is simply stated, "Fulfill your obligations.", L. Ron Hubbard. www.thewaytohappiness.org @waytohappinesstampa
