Grow Up and Treat Others Well

Posted August 5, 2021 by stilsonlewis

How you treat others, including the simple respect for their time, has true weight on your own happiness.

This is one of those "confessional" articles. Nothing juicy, it's just that sometimes the best way to digest information is through another's experience. Sometimes, it even saves time and trouble. So here goes.. I have been a mess this week, and I have spilled it all over my friends. I am so grateful to have people who love me enough to listen to my nonsense. But really, who actually needs all this extra, and essentially pointless, drama? To make it worse, it has been about something that has been an off and on situation for a couple of years. The situation itself is not the point. The point is that I dump all over my friends. Do any of them really need this?? Heck, no. They all have busy, creative lives. They are making differences in the world for the good.

There is a booklet called The Way to Happiness by L. Ron Hubbard. It is an excellent tool and guide for making daily life more easily livable. I am violating several points to end up in this state, but the one I am most concerned about is this, "Try not to do things to others that you would not like them to do to you." This is an important test. So I know that consuming some hours of my friends' time, (yes, I plagued more than one) with this mostly self created drama, is not a welcome event. But, because they love me, they tolerate me. So , now a new leaf, I plan to grow up.
