Would you ask for a more bizarre way for the Chicago Bears to try and clinch the division? First off, Aaron Rodgers goes down to be able to his second concussion of the year the week prior to they play the steam-rolling Patriots. Then, in spectacular fashion, the bubble burst on the Metrodome, with video footage showing a few thousand pounds of snow falling within the field like somebody slit a giant sack of flour over a kitchen floor. When it was determined that the area could not be repaired in time for tomorrow night's sport, they moved the game... to an OUTDOOR college stadium that was... wait for it... covered with even more snow than in often the Metrodome. Add to all this the fact that Brett Favre and Tavaris Jackson are out and the Vikes will be throwing out of law school quarterback/wide receiver/clipboard holder Joe Webb into his begin. You can't make this stuff up.

Putting aside the notion it probably should have occurred to somebody that it was possible snowfall might pile on top of a roof the size of some little towns in Minnesota someday, TCF Field, where the College of Minnesota plays football is not what should issue the Bears Monday night. The Bears have had 2 slap-in-the-face games this year; one against the Giants, and the some other last week against the Patriots. They admitted they had gotten arrogant going into the Giants game; they had just beaten the exact Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers in back-to-back games, and these were two teams that had been predicted for you to compete for the NFC title at the beginning of the season. Obviously points changed over the course the year, so that might have been understandable otherwise excusable. To have the same thing happen in week 14 towards a New England Patriot team that has been on fire is another tale.

The Patriots took the field last week and never gave this back. They were clearly more comfortable playing outdoors in Enthusiast Field in what is typically "Bear weather", gouging the Has on the ground and killing them in the air. The score right before halftime with five seconds left on the clock epitomized the Bears' lack of mental toughness and focus. Psychologically they were already warming up in the locker room, and required a giant middle finger in the face from quarterback Ben Brady, who ignored the call from the sidelines to take the knee when he saw Branch had single coverage. Right now the Bears have another outdoor game and faced with a running back in Adrian Peterson who has killed them on the floor several times. They can count on seeing a lot of him and Toby Gerhart with Webb at the helm, which means the Grayscale Blue division should definitely live up to its name in this game.

Regularity and focus are what the Bears will need to overcome exactly what defines a trap game. It isn't that their time of year is on the line, but it is an opportunity for them to show the psychological toughness to take the loss at home last week and apply the teachings they should have learned in week four. If the Packers shed to the Patriots today the Bears have the chance to clinch the division and ensure themselves a playoff spot, something which many in Halas Hall desperately need to try to keep their own jobs in what was called a playoffs or bust season. Regardless how Bears fans feel about keeping coach Lovie Smith, group president Ted Phillips and company, getting to the playoffs for the first time since the team was in the Super Bowl 4 years ago is something they have been waiting for. What needs to include the playoff berth is a team that is mentally expecting the steps that come after that if they want to avoid a one-and-done playoff run.

More than anything it has become clear that gamers like Brian Urlacher who have been at this point and fallen brief before are urging the rest of the team to play like champions. Winning a division that has had more than its discuss of skill players falling to injury is not going to be adequate to get them the respect all NFL players state they crave. Respect is earned, and it is shown within the hardware that comes with a deserved victory. The Patriots could be relatively counted on to be waiting at the end of the road when the Bears make it that far. Tom Brady and Expenses Belichick have proven that they know how to maintain their concentrate and edge to the end of the road several times during the past. The Bears have to approach each and every game as a problem to knock teams of higher regard off their pedastals. In short, they have to play to not just win but topple the stuffing out of every team they face, and the next day night that starts by dominating a team that should be completely outclassed and eliminating the unnecessary drama by letting the very weaker teams hang around. They need to make this a boring activity early and keep their starters off the frozen turf so that they aren't injured going down the home stretch.

The Vikings tend to be obviously going to be relying heavily on Peterson and the operate game to keep pressure off Webb, but the Vikings continue to be dangerous through the air and the medium range pass gameplay could give receivers like Percy Harvin, Sidney Grain, Visanthe Shiancoe, and Peterson himself chances to get yardage after the catch if the Bears are caught hibernating once again. The Bears need to rattle Webb early, keep their frozen feet shuffling on the icy turf, and keep the main pressure on with the front four and the occasional security blitz. If/when the Bears take the lead, they need to continue beating them into submission a la 1985 to close the door along with finality.
