Recreational Activities for All Ages

Modeina offers fun and engaging activities designed to encourage learning, community involvement and relationship-building among residents. Almost every month, Modeina families can choose an event or activity to partake in.

Just this September, the Modeina community, with the support of Fishcare Victoria, held a free fishing clinic for 5- to 15-year-olds. Participants learned everything from casting, baiting a hook, fishing techniques, safety and regulations as well as waterway management.

As residents of the City of Melton, Modeina families can also enjoy events and activities organised by the city council.

In October, Modeina residents celebrated Children's Week with other families of Melton at the city community hall. Kids enjoyed the jumping castle, animal farm, arts and crafts booths and roving performers. The free family event featured a cooking workshop, a children's art exhibit and various sports areas where familiescan try netball, basketball, Auskick and cricket.

Growing a Healthy and Vibrant Community

Modeina is committed to nurturing a vibrant and healthy community in the Burnside and Caroline Springs areas. Through the Modeina Community Fund, qualified local groups covering sport, culture, welfare and recreation are awarded grants amounting to $1000.

Within Modeina, construction work is ongoing at the new Burnside Primary School. Parents can expect school gates to open on the first day of Term 1 in 2019. The P-6 school will feature creative activity spaces, two state-of-the-art learning communities and break-out collaboration spaces. The 3.5-hectare campus will include open play areas, a sporting field and two hard courts.
