Temperance Cannot Be Imposed

It is so much more evident in the United States at this time of year that the decision to be and remain clean and sober is a very personal one. Individuals must decide for themselves.

Drinking makes empty holes in families. Drug abuse also makes empty holes. This can be from the death or debilitation of those using, It can also be that those who are clean and sober choose not to be around the "partying" side of the family. Either way, it is a shattered family.

None of this is from a glass of wine with dinner, though that can be treacherous for
for someone newly sober. A family that truly has one's back might kindly choose to abstain for the afternoon or evening. If we cannot do this for one another, who can we count on?

This is team work. The way we act with one another is as important as what we say.
