Are children disposable? In todays world we have sentiment towards the infant, the toddler, and even the unborn.
And in our society we seem ready to throw away youth at the age of 18. When we look to the care of children without parents,
what then are our emotions? What is our analytical viewpoint of care?

We are creating a future here. There is talent, intelligence and potential in every child. It doesn't die at age13, or 15 , or 18.
So how is it sane or compassionate to say to a child of 18 years that they are now on their own ? In first world societies, real
maturation may just be beginning. Those first steps of responsibility, socially and financially should come with care, guidance and a safety net.
With our foster care system set up the way it is, even the best, most caring and well funded facility must let children go at 18.
To do what? What trade, profession or even basic job with a future is there for them?

How does this really help us as a culture? The need is real. There are now individuals within a few government and not-for-profit
groups who aid the homeless who specialize in children 18 to 26 years old. A recognition of the transition period between
childhood ad adulthood. Let's help them make this transition.

We need to rethink this. Children at 18 years old are not disposable any more than at 18 days. "Children can't handle their
environment and they have no real resources.They need love and help to make it.", L. Ron Hubbard.
