Root Treatments
Root canal treatment (Endodontics) is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth. This treatment is only required when it’s clear that the soft tissue at the centre of the tooth has been damaged by a bacterial infection, your dentist can check this by taking X-rays of your teeth to highlight any problems .
Root canal treatment is carried out by your dentist over two or more appointments. Before you have the treatment your dentist will take an X-ray to build a clear picture of the damage. This type of treatment is usually carried out under local anaesthetic but in some cases this may not be necessary.
Dentures
What are Dentures?
Dentures are removable false teeth that are made from either acrylic (a type of plastic), or metal & acrylic combined. They are made to fit comfortably over the gums to replace any teeth that are missing and eliminate potential problems that could be caused by gaps such as trouble eating and difficulty with speech.
Types of dentures:
There are two types of dentures, Complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures refer to a full set which replace all your upper teeth, lower teeth or sometimes both. Partial dentures just replace a small amount of missing teeth.
How Dentures are fitted:
Complete Dentures will need to be fitted if all your upper or lower teeth have to be removed or if you’re having your old denture replaced. Dentures tend to be fitted straight after your teeth have been removed, they are made to fit snugly over your gums to ensure they are comfortable to wear. Over time dentures may have to be relined or remade due to the shape changes of your teeth and gums.

A partial denture is made to fill in the gaps left by one or more missing teeth. It is a plastic or metal plate with a number of false teeth attached to it. It usually clips onto some of your natural teeth via metal clasps, which hold it securely in place in your mouth.
To have dentures made and fitted, you will have to have an initial assessment with your dentist. Your dentist will then take measurements and moulds of your mouth over a series of appointments which can take around 4 weeks. Here at Safe Dental we have out own laboratory, which makes it very easy for the Dentist and Technician to liaise with each other.
