What is the passing score for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Examination?
A passing score is 75% or higher. This is obtained by answering at least 60 out of 80 questions correctly. The exam has 90 questions; however there are 10 pilot questions that are for research purposes only.
How do I become ServSafe Food Safety recertified?
You must retake the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination before your current ServSafe Certification expires.
Check your local regulatory requirements for more information about certification renewal. Requirements may include completing both food safety training and the ServSafe Certification Exam. Check ServSafe.com to learn more about online training and exam options or to find a class and exam location in your area.
If you have questions about your state's requirements, please contact your state/local health department for more options.
Does my certificate expire?
The National Restaurant Association recognizes the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification for a five-year period and the ServSafe Alcohol and ServSafe Food Handler Certificates for a three-year period. However, state or employer requirements can vary.
ServSafe Food Manager® Certification meets all of the requirements mandated by the county and local health departments in the State, and is recognized nationwide. The curriculum blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and actual job tasks identified by foodservice industry experts. It covers principles including personal hygiene, cross contamination, time and temperature, receiving and storage, food safety management systems, and training hourly employees.
ServSafe® Food Handler is a great first step to ensure that all of your employees are trained in food safety. The online class covers 5 key areas: basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross contamination, time & temperature controls, and cleaning & sanitation.
ServSafe Allergens™ is an online, interactive course driving home critical information your employees need to accommodate guests with food allergies. The course covers identifying allergens, communication, preventing cross-contact, food labels and more.
ServSafe Alcohol® is accepted in all 50 states and is ideal for companies that have locations in multiple states. It can be taken online, but the exam must be proctored in person for an additional fee.
How do I access an online course?
You must first purchase the online course in order to access it. You can purchase the course yourself or someone else can purchase it and assign it to you.
To access your course, go to Course Management and click Launch next to the course you wish to view. If your course is not available under the My Courses tab, you will need to enter the Course Access Key exactly as provided; including dashes. We recommend copying and pasting the code, if possible. The Course Access Key is a unique code that verifies a course was purchased and allows access to the course.
