Functioning of HVAC Smart 6™

The HVAC Smart 6™ is a fully encapsulated, weather and rain proof retro-fit product used to save energy in HVAC systems. The HVAC Smart 6™ works on most all HVAC models.

HVAC Smart 6's most important function is to extend the ventilation fan run time of a HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning) system up to 5 minutes after the heating or cooling unit has turned off. This fan extension run time is established by an advanced algorithm based on thermal dynamic engineering .

Technology’s background

In July 2008, the California Energy Commissions released its report on energy performance of hot, dry optimized air‐conditioning system. Report discusses the merits of extending the fan run time. Essentially, the report validates the fact that when the compressor shuts down, latent cool energy on its cooling coils can be harnessed. Correspondingly, when the heater shuts down, the residual heat energy trapped in the heat exchanger can also be harnessed.

Studies and research carried out by Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Sothern California Edison also came up with the same conclusion.

The original report by California Energy Commission motivated the development of the HVAC Smart 6 and the feedback from end users confirms the energy saving properties of this simple feature.

Even though re-starting the compressor will draw some start up energy cost, the net saving from compressor stopping for a few minutes is much higher and contributes to a substantial savings.

Confirmation that technology does not void manufacturer warranty
The HVAC Smart 6™ operates on the same 24vac used on the thermostat. It is wired to the same wiring used on a thermostat, and generates the same signals voltages and currents as a thermostat. It does not interfere with the high voltage side of the HVAC system. Therefore this technology does not void manufacturer warranty.

Compliance with State or Federal code

The HVAC Smart 6™ complies with all State and Federal codes. It uses only the existing household 24vac that are used to power a thermostat. It conforms to the same standard as a thermostat in terms of amperage, voltage levels and safety standards.

Warranty Details

HVAC Smart Supply LLC warrants customers that HVAC Smart 6™ product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship when used under normal conditions. The HVAC Smart 6™ is authorized for sale through licensed contractors, and directly from HVAC Smart Supply LLC only. Any other sale is not authorized and the product is not warranted unless agreed to in advance in writing.

Warranty and all implied warranties are limited to defects arising within 5 years from the date of purchase. Customers must register the product within 60 days of purchase for the 5 year replacement coverage to be in effect. See the full warranty on the HVAC Smart Supply website.
