MEGA RAN COMPOSES FIRST VIDEOGAME SOUNDTRACK

RAHEEM “MEGA RAN” JARBO has composed his first videogame soundtrack for the visual novel demo, Incarnō: Everything Is Written (Schnoodle Studio). The critically acclaimed rapper has had his work featured on Tosh.0, TNA Impact!, and Portlandia. He contributed “Mighty (Mighty No. 9)” and “Welcome to Monaco” to the Mighty No. 9 and Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine soundtracks, respectively.

However, this is the first time he has been solely responsible for an entire soundtrack’s themes, aesthetics, and overall sound.

Nerdcore rapper Mega Ran spent the better part of 2020 composing tracks with a chillhop and lo-fi vibe. Included are three songs with his iconic lyrical style. These will be released as singles later in 2021.

The sound and overall atmosphere Mega Ran has produced is foundational to Incarnō’s storytelling. In fact, all music was completed before the script or any art. The singles even feature as important parts of the gameplay.

Schnoodle Studio’s Creative Director Toiya Kristen Finley had wanted to work with Mega Ran for a while. “He was the right fit because I knew he could capture the vibe of the story and experience.

“We talked about the arcs, backstories, and motivations for these characters and several themes we wanted to hit. These themes were mirroring some of the things we were experiencing during the pandemic and that deep, deep desire to see some kind of racial justice over the summer of 2020. You can really hear and feel those themes in the tracks.”

Today, Mega Ran is no longer a teacher by title, but maintains a rigorous touring and recording schedule, traveling the world to entertain and educate through the gift of rhyme.
