While there are a fair amount of opportunities in India to learn sound engineering as well as performance and music theory, the skills required for producing, arranging, programming, film scoring etc remain largely self acquired. Thousands of professionals around the country who provide the music for films (songs as well as background scores), TV, radio, advertisement jingles, theater and a host of other avenues have learnt their craft at home dabbling on softwares or literally ‘on the job’. It is common for a sound engineer who runs a studio to double up as a music producer.

The scenario however is changing with modern technology and and ever expanding entertainment and social media industry. Opportunities and avenues are opening up for more specialised skill sets. It’s not just the industry, India is also experiencing the rise of ‘bedroom’ producers’ and self taught musicians who are making tracks from start to finish and putting them out there on the plethora of platforms out there. We are seeing the lines between the amateur and the professional blurring.

The CCMP curriculum aims at providing a comprehensive foundation course in the field of music production. The carefully designed curriculum will take you through the fundamentals of audio and provide an in depth working into the world of the virtual studio. Students will learn different ways to start and build on musical ideas and then flesh them out out into proper arrangements. There will be an emphasis to understand the nuances of not just technical aspects but also aesthetic choices related to the different processes in producing music for different scenarios and different genres of music. Finally you will learn the essential skills related to mixing your music and making it sound professional.

The course will also educate the student about the different avenues and career opportunities open to a music producer. These scenarios - like scoring for films, making advert jingles or producing a dance music track - will be incorporated into the course via carefully designed projects in which the student will interact with professionals from those industries. At the end of the course you will have a better understanding of what you must do next, to move forward and make your musical dreams a reality.
