World Prematurity Day is observed on 17th November each year to raise awareness of pre-term birth and address the concerns of pre-term babies and their families worldwide. As per the National Health Portal of India, 3.5 million babies born are pre-term every year in India. Creating awareness about caring for these babies is very important.

Rosewalk Healthcare and General Electric Healthcare held an event on Early Delivery Care on 16th November, 2017. Rosewalk is the only hospital in Delhi chosen by GE Healthcare to hold an awareness session on this day.
A team of senior doctors officiated the event with presentations by Dr. Atul Chopra (Head – Neonatology and Paediatrics) who spoke about the challenges of pre-term births and the comprehensive medical facilities available at Rosewalk, which provide superior care for pre-term babies. Ms. Ruchita Mehra (Lactation and Post Natal Maternity Consultant) spoke about initiating breastfeeding and caring for the mother, since the stress associated with maternal infant separation causes physiological and emotional anxiety.

Our Clinical Nutritionist backs this up by providing the mother with the right diet to help her recover and to help her breastfeed. All this ensures that the family stays strong and brave, and are able to spend as much time with their baby as possible. As far as we know, this kind of holistic support is unique to Rosewalk amongst hospitals in Delhi/NCR.
