Focusing on the health of each patient, the center offers an array of trauma-informed and gender responsive programs. For individuals in need, an initial needs assessment is offered to evaluate the client's alcohol and drug use. During the face-to-face interview, information will be collected from the patient, as well as health care professionals and other concerned parties to determine if treatment services are needed.

Co-occurring women's programs are designed to treat women who are dealing with both substance abuse and mental health issues. Since the occurrence of both can cause more severe, prolonged symptoms, they are both addressed and treated for positive, effective long-term results. The main goals of these programs are to help women abstain from substance abuse, identify individual abilities, build a support system and learn and practice life skills.

River Ridge also features a co-occurring men's program to assist men with their mental health and substance abuse issues with outpatient programs, residential treatment, family programs, recovery maintenance and more.
