The latest news from The Synergist Group (TSG), the Florida based educational/leadership company, is that the 2nd edition of their Redgey Life Skills curriculum now contains chapters on Bullying and Cyberbullying. The curriculum is a complete school program for grades 3-4 and 5-6 which can be utilized to support existing curriculum within the classroom and/or after school in ESS, 21st Century, or other after school programs.

In an effort to stay current on topics brought to the forefront in reported events and discussions, The Synergist Group realized that their curriculum would have an even greater impact by addressing the subject of bullying. Defined as “a form of aggressive behavior manifested by the use of force or coercion to affect others”, the act of bullying has drawn educators and others together to seek a solution to this controversial subject. TSG has jumped into the fray by adding helpful, educational material relating to the matter in their most recent Life Skills edition.

Upon first glance, an eye catching colorful rendering of the entire program’s symbol – a small adorable bird whose name is Redgey, immediately captures the attention of both children and adults alike. When TSG co-founder Roger Edwards was asked how the bird came to represent an educational curriculum, he replied, “Despite being a victim of bullying as a child, I learned early in my life to make choices that would assure success instead of failure, hope instead of despair, and a strong determination to lead others onto a smoother path. As a way of coping with childhood adversities, doodling became a unique way to escape daily hardships. One day, the lines drawn took the shape of a silly looking bird who then etched a steadfast companionship and friendship in my young mind.”

Now named Redgey, the drawing that once inspired a child to never give up, today symbolizes the purpose of this program; that of character education, leadership development, and life skills.

On Monday, September 3, 2012, the “2nd edition” of the Redgey curriculum appears for the first time on the Who is Redgey website http://www.whoisredgey.com.

Following in the footsteps of the 1st edition, this latest version also offers Unit Blocks which incorporate reading, writing, and on-demand writing, using Vocabulary Words, Short Stories, Worksheets, Journal Entries, Group Activities, and Homework Assignments, which spotlight among others, these life skills: Physical Wellness, Safety Practices, Personal Finances, Proper Nutrition and Selecting a Career Path.

The Synergist Group enthusiastically strives to achieve Awareness, Growth and Results. With their offering of the Redgey curriculum, it appears they have achieved their goal!
