Sherilyn Kaye Edwards takes her desire to help children a step farther by inviting them into her home.

Helping children is a key part of Sherilyn Kaye Edwards’s life. As a substitute nurse at a local school, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards is frequently called on to help children recover from injury, and helping them by treating their illnesses is par for the course for Sherilyn Kaye Edwards. However, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards felt that helping children when they were injured or ill was not enough for her. Sherilyn Kaye Edwards saw a need for greater assistance in the lives of many children around North Carolina. Because of this need, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards began to investigate the possibility of inviting the young ones into her home as foster children.

As a foster parent, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards has the ability to work much more closely with needy children. Because Sherilyn Kaye Edwards has medical training, and also has a deep interest in helping the injured, she has decided to focus specifically on fostering medically fragile infants and children. As her foster children, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards’s wards would have constant access to the abilities and knowledge that she possesses. This close supervision will help the fragile children recover much more quickly from their illnesses. Sherilyn Kaye Edwards plans to leverage her considerable medical experience to help the children fostered in her care.

Sherilyn Kaye Edwards sees fostering medically fragile children as an extension of her career of service. To Sherilyn Kaye Edwards, it is obvious that fostering these children will allow them to recover from their medical problems and move on to a better, happier life. Sherilyn Kaye Edwards is deeply invested in the long term success of the children.

When asked to comment on the foster program, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards was excited, saying: “As a foster parent, you get to reach kids on a deeper level than in the classroom. Yes, the days are long and the nights can be tiring sometimes, but seeing these kids improve the way that they do makes it all worth it.”

Sherilyn Kaye Edwards encourages those who cannot foster on their own to find a foster parent in their local area and commit to helping support them in their efforts
