Larry Stansberry of New Orleans on the hardships of losing the original St. Margaret's

Larry Stansberry knows a great deal about sacrifice, hard work, and commitment. The CEO of a major assisted-living and medical needs facility has had his experiences both past and present with urgency and a major concern of appropriate measures to his list of importance. The facility he works extremely hard with for over 15 years has been through its dramatic changes since his time there. These changes have been extremely effective and brought in the full aspect of his intended mission since the day he took the position of a chief executive officer at St. Margaret's at Mercy. The nursing facility has been moved due to its closure from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In 2005, late August the original facility was evacuated due to the intense hurricane which was on its way to New Orleans and local areas. St.Margaret's was directly in its path and the facility was lost.

Larry Stansberry has a deeper regret for the losses of 1836 lives that were taken that terrible day. He distinctly remembers the urgency and the intense efforts that were taken to evacuate the facility. Luckily he was able to evacuate everyone in an orderly fashion. The facility was completely damaged and there was a moment where they had to take up occupancy at Bywater Hospital until the facility had gained the proper financial means to reopen in its new location. In 2012, the facility was then reopened at the old Sally Boggs Hospital which was renovated for the needs of assisted living quarters. This was a definite change in both in improving the needs of the elderly and bringing them into a new environment which they mentioned feels a lot like home. He truly appreciates the outcome of the new facility as well as its occupants. He works diligently to make sure that all the staff and assistance available are supervised as the facility has the most modern medical equipment and technicians. Larry Stansberry also happens to be a licensed nursing facility administrator and a certified Eden associate. He always ensures the families of the patients residing in the facility in New Orleans of his responsibilities to take care of their loved ones.
