Katerina Baitinger keeps up-to-date with the latest educational methods

Katerina Baitinger knows there are few things more important to an education professional than keeping up with the latest research and methods. She works hard to ensure that both her theories and her practice are in tune with the latest knowledge on a broad range of subjects.

Katerina Baitinger spent three years as the Academic Advisement Coordinator at Middlesex Community College in Middleton, Connecticut. Consequently she is a knowledgeable source on current trends in academic advising. One of the most important trends that Katerina Baitinger sees, and one that she believes is here to stay, centers on the nature of the relationship between the advisor and the advisee. Of course, no advisor/advisee relationship should be unprofessional, but an interpersonal connection between an advisor and a student can help facilitate a greater dialogue about the students' scholastic goals, and can help the advisor better assist in reaching those objectives.

Katerina Baitinger says that an advisor should strive to help students become more engaged with their learning. Her professional experience has taught her just how important it can be. Being able to connect academic advising to actual academic results in a powerful synergy that can advance classroom learning, as the student will have a better sense of the big picture, Katerina Baitinger says.

Seminars will also help students by giving them real life experiences to connect with their educational plans. Katerina Baitinger promotes a holistic approach to the entire learning process, wherein students are allowed to fully understand the purpose of education and the means by which they absorb information.

Katerina Baitinger is also an advocate of the concept of multiple intelligences, which recognizes that human intelligence is a multi-facetted thing, and that different people have different learning styles. She has researched and written extensively on the subject, culminating in her book Multiple Intelligences and Curriculum Development (Tate Publishing, 2012). The fact of multiple intelligence, Katerina Baitinger says, makes it even more important to have an interpersonal relationship with the student, so that the advisor can better figure out the kind of intelligence that he or she exhibits and can successfully guide them.
