Dr. Sat Bhattacharya’s philanthropic and scientific STEM outreach program displays longevity.

Back in the year 2000, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya was just in the starting phases of creating an organization that he knew would one day change the world. Through decades of impressive experience in the field of medical research, he had gained the support of many fellow respected individuals, organizations and political bodies that all became familiar with Dr. Sat Bhattacharya’s name. And while many might credit Harlem Children Society’s growth directly to Dr. Sat Bhattacharya’s popularity, the esteemed doctor would argue that it was all in the cause.

Harlem Children Society is an outreach organization designed to promote STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) education in poverty and crime stricken areas where young people lack the resources to gain a formal education. The group operates and hosts events all over the United States, Latin America, Asia and Africa, in areas where poverty and other such factors impede a child’s ability to learn more about the world around them. Dr. Sat Bhattacharya hopes to be the end to such scenarios, and aims to provide the resources necessary to give aspiring doctors and scientists the chance to apply their dreams and abilities to the benefit of the common good.

Celebrating its fourteenth year as an organization, Harlem Children Society has shown the world that it will not be going away any time soon. The promotional efforts supporting the group are just as beneficial as the events they host or participate in, which makes the society a self-sustaining entity that only grows with each life it touches. The group has been a part of several community activities in its home base of Harlem, where their first outreach event involved a parade, science fair, and live musical performances. After drawing many supporters from their first event, the Harlem Children Society decided to make their parade an annual event, a theme that tends to reoccur among every community they touch.

With such a display of growth and success, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya is proud of how far his non-profit organization has come; but he’s even more proud of the global community and the open-mindedness towards science that have welcomed his society so warmly. It gives him hope that with the right tools, young people can build a safer and healthier future.
