St. Peter said not to ignore “1000 years as a day” when “the day of the Lord will come” in his 2nd book, 3rd chapter. Daniel’s famous time prophecy of 70 weeks of years (490) spanned 10 jubilees that came every 49 years because the 50th was the 1st year of the next week of years. If we come 40 more jubilees to 1995, Pope John Paul went to the UN on the Day of Atonement and then a 20-year gap to Pope Francis’ UN visit in 2015, marking the end of 1000 years because 490 years (10 jubilees) go into 1000 twice with 20 years left over, says Dr. Richard Ruhling, Bible author.

“The day of the Lord” comes as a thief in the night, for when they say ‘Peace and safety,’ sudden destruction comes.” The Iran Nuclear Treaty was a sign of peace and safety. “The day of the Lord” was also signaled by the solar eclipse and blood moon (Joel’s 2nd chap), but the seven year period of end-times could not begin till after the sabbatical year of 2016 signaled by John Paul’s UN visit, 2015. Three sabbatical cycles (3 x 7 = 21 years, 1995 - 2016, says Ruhling.

“The day of the Lord” brings “all nations against Jerusalem to battle; the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity…Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations.” This is expected on Passover, the biblical time when God “executes judgment” as He did at the Exodus, and Titus also began his siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD at Passover. (Josephus, Wars of the Jews)

“The day of the Lord” is what John was shown and told to write in the book of Revelation. It reveals the end-time period and helps explain Daniel’s prophecies that Christ said to understand in the 24th chapter of Matthew. They continue into the next chapter with a wedding parable where five women lacked oil and couldn’t find the wedding until too late. Ruhling denies that it’s about a rapture as many Christians think. He explains…

The missing oil comes from two olive trees representing Old and New Testaments in Zechariah 4. Jews who reject the B'rit Chadashah (New Testament) or Christians who don’t understand Israel’s history (Old Testament) will not have oil for their lamps to find the wedding and will suffer a loss of destiny. When Israel made a covenant with God, they became His kingdom and bride and we must do so when He ‘knocks’--Ruhling cites Luke’s 12th chapter parable.

The Bible explains itself, and the only other place where Christ “knocked” was for a lukewarm, materialistic church that ended in an earthquake circa 63 AD. Ruhling says western Christianity is also well-described in that 3rd chapter of Revelation and he expects an earthquake to initiate “the day of the Lord” (2nd chapter of Joel) and impact the US.

The earthquake fits Paul’s ‘sudden destruction’ (2nd par, top) but ‘watching’ (being awake, praying) will be protective. Since the wedding parables have Passover imagery, Ruhling says we should celebrate the Lord’s Supper, especially if Jerusalem is destroyed as Christ warned in the 24th of Matthew. But how could their Passover event warn us?

Ruhling says the three times Christ said, You don’t know the day or hour, the Greek word, eido, means understand, and each time he said the disciples didn’t understand, he gave examples, like the days of Noah, or “a man traveling to a far country” for Passover a month later* as their law provided in the 9th chapter of Numbers.

Five of Christ’s closing parables have links to that provision and if Jerusalem has destruction in April, Christians should consider celebrating the Lord’s Supper on May 11* and then “watch and pray” as Christ did with his disciples, says Ruhling…adding if we shrug it off, we may be like the goodman with a broken house, Matt 24:43.
