Former India player Mohammad Kaif has revealed that he would love to watch Rohit Sharma bat over India captain Virat Kohli in white-ball cricket although he said that Kohli is on another level across formats.

"If you ask me, I will love to watch Rohit Sharma bat. Just to watch. Both have long careers ahead of them and both are exceptional batters. Virat Kohli is on another level. His record in Test matches is amazing. He is brilliant in ODIs and T20s too. But if I have the option, I would love to watch Rohit Sharma bat (in white ball cricket)," Kaif said on Sportscreen's YouTube page.

"He has the elegance. He always has a lot of time at the crease. He never seems to be in a rush. He bats with ease. When he times the ball, it travels so fast. There are few batsmen who take you to the cleaners but you don't get to realise that he is putting in a lot of effort," said the former player.

On the other hand, Mohammad Kaif revealed a secret too. He recalled the incident how MS Dhoni got run out while batting with him on Dhoni's ODI debut against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2004. He again said that he certainly deserves a little bit of credit for Dhoni's rise as this incident made the then India captain Sourav Ganguly think about it. That resulted to push Dhoni up the batting order against Pakistan in 2005 in Visakhapatnam where he smashed a swashbuckling 148.

Meanwhile, Kaif has also rated MS Dhoni, as the fastest runner between the wickets in world cricket t the age of 38 too, citing that Dhoni’s speed amazed him when the duo used to play together for India. However, Dhoni has been out of the action for quite some time now. Although this year IPL was considered as his return to the game, the league has been postponed for the time being because of the global pandemic COVID-19 which has claimed several lives and affected many people so far.
